Spent Christmas here and stayed 5 nights in a lovely little boutique apartment in the Kerameikos area of Athens. Lots of dining and bars in the immediate area and close to metro and bus.

We ventured up the coast to Piraeus and visited the marina and walked around. Some very impressive yachts indeed.

The next day we ventured in the other direction took a tram along the coast and through the city great day out with some lovely views.

No visit to Athens would be complete with out a trip to Acropolis to see the Parthenon (Temple of Athena) built in 438 BC. Very impressive structure sits high on the hill, dominating the Athens skyline. It's undergoing lots of restoration works. Apparently it was doing okay until fairly recently (1647ish) when it was used as a munitions storage facility by the Ottomans and the Venetian’s dropped a mortar in it and it blew up which apparently buggered it up a fair bit.

Great views over Athens and views of the amphitheatres and Temple of Zeus and several other Temples all very interesting. We did need a nice strong coffee after an early start climbing the Acropolis, investigating, then descending.

Love the street vibe of Athens, and the Greek food is delicious, some of the best we've had. Every meal had been amazing. We must admit the Greek food is delicious and we have thoroughly enjoyed every meal.

One more stop over in Singapore for a couple days before we head home.
