Two days in Berlin, one to see the sights. Thankfully we both remembered how to ride a bike, we tried e-bikes for the first time, lots of fun!
The World Clock, found Perth, and television tower.
Berlin Wall
This was very interesting. We remember watching the Pink Floyd 'The Wall' concert on TV in July 1990. It was held in Berlin to commemorate the fall of the wall eight months earlier. A few sections remain as a reminder of what once was.
Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, also known as the Holocaust Memorial.
The memorial consists of a field of over 2,700 concrete pillars on sloping ground, designed to create a confusing and disorienting atmosphere. It is Germany's primary Holocaust memorial to remember the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust, and to serve as a place for remembrance and reflection. A very sobering experience.
Brandenburg Gate
The Brandenburg Gate is an impressive monument completed in 1791. It is a major symbol of Germany, representing division and reunification, and is topped by the Quadriga, a statue of the goddess of victory. The gate has been a witness to major historical events, from Nazi propaganda to the fall of the Berlin Wall, and is a popular landmark.
