Today we hand back the campervan and leave Iceland, heading to London for the next leg of our journey.
Iceland has been wonderful. We've seen everything we wanted to see, including the northern lights and snow. Hopefully there's more of that to come. The scenery is indescribable. It's beautiful, majestic, picturesque and sometimes you feel as if you're on another planet. We felt like we were on the filmset of Star Trek in some locations.
Amazing!!
Unfortunately, our ice caving tour was cancelled due to bad weather. We can always do that next time when we return to see the puffins.
Fun Facts:
Cost: Iceland is very expensive! 50l of diesel cost $197, and expect to pay an average of $60 - $70 for a main course meal. Our campsites averaged $85 per night, and don't even like to think about a round of drinks for the two of us, $48 for a beer and a vodka.
Road Rules:
They drive on the wrong side of the road, very confusing, especially at round-a-bouts. Mark was a natural and adapted quickly.
Pedestrians have right of way at all times.
Maximum speed limit 90kmh, with very low tolerance for exceeding this. To be honest, the limit was appropriate for the roads, which are very narrow and winding with very few opportunities to pull over.
Zero alcohol tolerance.
Head lights are mandatory at all times.
No need to press buttons at pedestrian crossings. It knows your there and will tell you when it's safe to cross.
Buckle up or the car won't accelerate. Should be mandatory on all cars I reckon
Our return flight was over before we knew it.

Looks AWESOME so far Sue, safe travels
