Just one night in Lucerne on our way from Innsbruck to Lauterbrunen, Switzerland. The young guy at the hotel was very helpful, pointing out the main sights of Lucerne. Lovely small city, everything within walking distance.

With limited time available we walked to the old town of Lucerne. We crossed the Chapel bridge, built in the 1300’s a wooden bridge with a stone water tower attached and art decorations on the roof of the covered walkway.

We then meandered our way through the old city and discovered the Lion Monument depicting a dying lion carved into the rock face. This was a memorial to the Swiss Guards who fought and were massacred in 1792, absolutely stunning and a lovely walk back to the hotel.
