Day 8 (Ring Road - East)

Camped in a high up campground called Fossardalur. The next morning took the Oxi Pass (shortcut) up through the mountains. Beautiful scenery, but track was steep, narrow and very windy. Heaps of waterfalls everywhere you look. Then on to very desolate countryside to the Hverir geothermal spot full of mud and steaming sulfuric gas. Smells like rotten eggs. Absolutely amazing!!

Finished our day at the Myvatn geothermal pools, the restaurant only, for coffee and cake. Didn't appeal to swim with 50 other people, but it was fun to people watch.
