Booked in for a week here just to make us stop. It's been great because we got caught up on our posts. Got a lovely little apartment on the edge of the main centre so everything is within walking distance.

The first few days we didn't venture far at all but acquainted ourselves with Florence, wandered around and stumbled across all sorts of things.

Another ride on a ferris wheel because it was across the road from our apartment with an ice skating rink and Christmas markets.

We naturally made our way to the museum to catch up with the naked fellow, David by Michelangelo in the early 1500’s. Very impressive and imposing statue with lots of brilliant renaissance art works in the Galleria, thy included a museum of musical instruments. Loved the hurdy gurdies.

The Leonardo Da Vinci interactive museum was fun. Lots of working wooden machinery made from his sketches that you could play with. Desmond would have loved it, I know we did.

We meandered across the Ponte Vecchio bridge, along with 5000 other people, which goes over the Arno River and is adorned with jewellery shops on both sides. The bridge was reportedly built in 996AC, so fairly old. Kept losing Sue in Jewellery shops lots of shiny things. Sue is now nicknamed Dory because of her ability to wander off without notice.

We went for a few walks around the Florence Duomo and Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, very impressive Cathedral with striking stonework of different hues.

Wandering the streets.

We thoroughly enjoyed Florence very relaxing an lovely city.
